Cooking Instructions!
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining sugar, eggs, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix well.
Gradually add the flour and knead until the dough comes together and is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the pecan caramel sauce. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup, and heavy cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch (6mm) thick.
Spread the pecan caramel sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
Place the slices, cut side down, in a greased baking dish. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy these sticky pecan rolls warm!
